The Ramallah Magistrate Court issued an acquittal of the mayor of Ramallah, Engineer Musa Hadid and mayor of the Municipality of Al-Bireh, Azzam Ismail. The mayors were previously charged with relating to licensing certain trades, specifically driving schools.
The decision came after the Constitutional Court ruled the steps taken by the municipality were legal, and permitted local authorities to license according to the regulations that were issued and any regulations that were in effect and did not conflict with the approved laws. The ruling confirmed that the municipalities are entitled to collect fees from driving schools.
Hadid said: “The first decision of imprisonment was marred by error, and today the Al-Soloh Court issued a final decision of innocence.”
